Tips to get you started
Depending on your level of experience in the workforce, these simple "do's and don'ts" guidelines can make a big difference. A well-prepared application helps you stand out, and gives employers a clear picture of what you bring to the table:

Be honest. It’s okay if you don’t have all the experience. Focus on what you can bring to the role.

Keep it clear and simple. Use plain language, easy-to-read formatting, and short bullet points.

Maintain professionalism. Use a clear, respectful tone and a professional email address (e.g. firstname.lastname@gmail.com).

Tailor your CV and follow instruction. If you're asked for a cover letter or specific information, be sure to include it. Highlight your skills and experience most relevant to the job.

Lie or exaggerate. Honesty matters. It’s better to be upfront about your experience than risk losing trust.

Over-explain or include too much. Keep it relevant and easy to scan.

Use casual or unclear email addresses. Avoid nicknames, slang, or anything that might look unprofessional.

Use a generic CV. An ambiguous application won't stand out. Avoid using AI for your applications. It can make you appear lacking in initiative or unmotivated - AI applications are often very obvious!
